COVID-19 Response Protocol

During these times of uncertainty, we are taking every precaution to ensure our client’s safety as well as reducing the risks for our doctors and staff as well. To help your pets get much needed medical care, we will continue to be open for business with the same operating hours. however, we will be making some changes to minimize person to person contact. If you are ill or have traveled recently – please stay home and self-isolate and do not come to the appointment with your pet. You can ask a friend or family member that is well and has not traveled to bring your pet for the appointment.  These procedures have been put in place so that contact of door handles, countertops, pens, etc., can be reduced. Our goal is to continue to care for our community’s pets by keeping our clients, doctors, and staff healthy.

Pet-Only Appointments:

  • We recommend arranging a ‘curbside pickup’ of your pet from the car.
  • When you arrive, please stay in your vehicle and dial 587-625-0748 to notify us that you arrived and provide us your cellphone number.
  • One of our staff will come to the parking lot to bring your pet into the clinic for evaluation.
  • After our medical team evaluates your animal, you will receive a phone call or video Call on “WhatsApp” to discuss recommendations and a plan moving forward. Verbal consent for treatment and details surrounding financial estimates will be authorized via this phone call.
  • All pet food and prescriptions will be carried out to your car by one of our staff.
  • We request that you pay over the phone or e-transfer if possible. However, all other previous methods of payment still available.

Medication & Food Pickups:

  • Please call ahead to ensure your items are available and ready for pick-up.
  • When you arrive, please stay in your vehicle and dial 587-625-0748 to notify us that you arrived and provide us your cellphone number.
  • All pet food and prescriptions will be carried out to your car by one of our staff.
  • We request that you pay over the phone or e-transfer if possible. However, all other previous methods of payment still available.
  • Please do not let your food or medications run too low. With things being so uncertain, there is the possibility that we may see delays and shortages in the future from our suppliers.

Surgical Drop Offs as a Pet Only Appointment:

  • When you arrive, please stay in your vehicle and dial 587-625-0748 to notify us that you arrived and provide us your cellphone number.
  • Normally you come in and sign your surgical consent form and provide a phone number where you can be reached while your pet is in our care. We will email you this form to complete prior to your arrival. You may scan it and email it back to us or hand it to us outside the front door when you arrive with your pet.
  • A care professional will come to the parking lot to bring your pet into the clinic. After the surgery finished, you will receive a phone call to discuss recommendations, discharge time and discharge instructions. We also will email you a copy of the discharge instructions.
  • Call us again when you arrived for your pet pickup and one of our staff will deliver your pet to your car along with all the medications.
  • We request that you pay over the phone, or e-transfer if possible. However, all other previous methods of payment still available.

Our Internal Cleaning Plan:

  • We have medical-grade disinfectants that we will now use to clean the front desk surfaces and the credit card machine after each user.
  • We accept e-transfer and credit card payment on the phone.
  • In addition to our usual exam room cleaning, we will also be cleaning the exam room door handles between appointments.
  • We will use the same disinfectant to clean the outside door handle as much as possible throughout the day. The front door can be pushed open on the way out without touching it.
  • We will disinfect the bathroom sink after each use.
  • We will be disinfecting our phones, desks, keyboards and mouse surfaces many times daily.

If you are not able to leave your home, please let us know how we can help you and we will do our best to meet all your needs. Reach out to us by phone (587) 625-0748 or email info@legacyvetclinic.ca.
